Hawaiian Pidgin English is a local dialect formed during the sugar and pineapple plantation era when immigrants found themselves unable to speak with each other in their native languages. The blend of their broken English and words from their home countries became a way to communicate and is still spoken prevalently in Hawaii. Howzit is a Hawaiian Pidgin English greeting that means "how are you?"
